I am Mohammad Rafiqul Bari, born and brought up in Melandaha, Jamalpur under the Mymensingh division of Bangladesh. I obtained B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Zoology in 1996 and M.Sc. degree in Zoology (Fisheries) in 1997. Later, I earned MPhil degree in 2023 from University of Rajshahi, where I am currently pursuing my PhD research. Earlier, I completed higher secondary education at Notre Dame College, Dhaka in 1993 and secondary education at Melandah Umir Uddin Pilot High School, Melandaha in 1991.

Since 2020, I have been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fisheries at Jamalpur Science & Technology University. Alongside my academic responsibilities, I have served the university in several administrative responsibilities, including Chairman of the Department of Fisheries, Assistant Proctor, and Member of the Academic Council. At present, I am pursuing my PhD at University of Rajshahi.

Before joining Jamalpur Science & Technology University, I worked for nearly twenty years at Sheikh Fajilatunnesa Mujib Fisheries College in the Department of Fisheries Biology & Genetics. I joined the college as a Lecturer in 2001 and was subsequently promoted to Assistant Professor in 2007 and Associate Professor in 2017. In addition to my teaching and research activities, I held several administrative positions, including Vice-Principal, Teachers Representative, Head of the Department, Hostel Superintendent, and Student Advisor.

My research interests include molecular biology, population genetics, aquatic biodiversity, ecology and aquatic resource conservation.
